Clinical Information
Indications for use
NeuRx is intended for use in patients with stable, high spinal cord injuries with stimulatable diaphragms, but who lack control of their diaphragms. The device is indicated to allow the patients to breathe without the assistance of a mechanical ventilator for at least 4 continuous hours a day.
Procedure Overview
Electrodes are laparoscopically implanted on the diaphragm muscle. The minimally invasive procedure typically takes 1–2 hours and conditions the diaphragm through electrical stimulation.
For Patients and Families
What to expect
NeuRx DPS® is designed to help you breathe more freely and reduce your dependence on a mechanical ventilator. Many patients report improved mobility, better sleep, and a greater sense of independence after implantation.
