What is TransAeris
TransAeris® is a temporary diaphragm pacing system designed to prevent or treat Ventilator Induced Diaphragm Dysfunction (VIDD) in ICU patients on mechanical ventilation. Electrical stimulation conditions the diaphragm muscle, enhancing the patient’s ability to wean from mechanical ventilation.
Placement During Surgery
Simple 2-minute procedure to place electrodes during surgery. No need for a separate procedure.
Up to 30 Days
Provides stimulation of the diaphragm for up to 30 days to prevent its atrophy
Prevents VIDD
Designed to enhance Patient’s ability to wean from Mechanical Ventilation, thus preventing Ventilator Induced Diaphragm Dysfunction
Who is TransAeris® For?
TransAeris® is designed for ICU patients after High Risk Surgeries who are at risk of or experiencing Ventilator Induced Diaphragm Dysfunction. It is intended for use under the supervision of intensivists and respiratory specialists.
Clinical Setting
Patients undergoing high risk surgeries, such as Lung Transplant, Prolonged Abdominal Surgeries (> 4 hours), are at increased risk of temporarily losing their volitional breathing. The prolonged use of Mechanical Ventilator leads to VIDD.
